AUGUSTA – Rene Noel Anctil, 76, passed away Nov. 2, 2022, at the Maine Veteran’s Home in Augusta, surrounded by his sons. He was born in St. Pamphile, Canada on June 13, 1946, a son of Jean Marie and Therese (Pelletier) Anctil.

As a youngster, Rene moved to Watertown, Connecticut and attended school at Watertown High School. Following school, he enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. Upon his return home, he was happily married to the love of his life, Patricia Stukshis and the two started a family. Rene enjoyed raising Percheron draft horses and proudly showed them at various events. Rene spent many years working for Coon Brothers Construction.

He is survived by his sons, John Anctil of Eagle River, AK, and Michael Anctil and his wife Amanda of Ignacio, CO and their four children; siblings, Denis Anctil of Naugatuck, CT, Br Peter Anctil OSB of Weston, VT, Louise Lamothe of Washington, ME, Leona Hallowell of Watertown, CT, and Lucille Zercher of Chugiak, AK; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was predeceased by his parents and his wife, Patricia Stukshis.

A memorial Mass will be held at St. John’s Church in Watertown, Conn., with burial at Mount Olivet at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are in the care of Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta. Condolences, stories and photos may be shared by visiting http://www.plummerfh.com.
