Maine Senate

• District 3

Bradlee T. Farrin, a Republican incumbent, won with 11,217 votes, defeating opponent Shawn G. Bean, a Democrat, with 5,895 votes. The district serves the Kennebec County communities of Benton, Clinton and Unity Township; in Somerset County, Canaan, Detroit, Madison, Norridgewock, Palmyra, Pittsfield and Skowhegan; and in Penobscot County, Dixmont, Etna, Newport, Plymouth and Stetson.

• District 5

Russell Black, a Republican, was leading a three-way open race with 9,982 votes versus opponents Stanley Wheeler, a Democrat, and independent Douglas A. Thomas, who had 6,093 and 2,056 votes, respectively, with 35 of 39 precincts reporting. The district serves the Kennebec County communities of Rome and Vienna; in Somerset County, Anson, Athens, Bingham, Brighton Plantation, Cambridge, Caratunk, Central Somerset, Cornville, Dennistown Plantation, Embden; Harmony, Hartland, Highland Plantation, Jackman, Mercer, Moose River, Moscow, New Portland, Northeast Somerset, Northwest Somerset, Pleasant Ridge Plantation, Ripley, Seboomook Lake, Smithfield, Solon, St. Albans, Starks, The Forks Plantation and West Forks Plantation; and in Franklin County, Carrabassett Valley, Chesterville, East Central Franklin, Farmington, Industry, Kingfield, New Sharon, New Vineyard, Strong, Wilton and Wyman Township.

• District 14

Craig V. Hickman, a Democratic incumbent, was leading with 8,884 votes versus opponent Jeffery P. Hanley, a Republican, who had 8,614 votes, with 11 of 12 precincts reporting. The district serves the Kennebec County communities of Chelsea, Farmingdale, Gardiner, Hallowell, Manchester, Monmouth, Pittston, Randolph, Readfield, Wayne, West Gardiner and Winthrop.

• District 15

Matthew Pouliot, a Republican incumbent, received 9,668 votes, defeating opponent Storme Jude St. Valley, a Democrat, with 6,990 votes, with nine of 10 precincts reporting. The district serves the Kennebec County communities of Augusta, Belgrade, China, Mount Vernon, Sidney and Vassalboro.

• District 16

David P. LaFountain, a Democrat, was leading the open race with 5,164 votes versus opponent Michael D. Perkins, a Republican, who had 4,271 votes, with three of five precincts reporting. The district serves the Kennebec County communities of Albion, Oakland, Waterville and Winslow; and Fairfield in Somerset County.

• District 17

Jeffrey Timberlake, a Republican incumbent, was leading with 8,656 votes versus opponent Jo-Jean Keller, a Democrat, who had 4,630 votes, with six of 10 precincts reporting. The district serves the Kennebec County communities of Fayette and Litchfield; and in Androscoggin County, Greene, Leeds, Lisbon, Livermore, Livermore Falls, Sabattus, Turner and Wales.
