Beatrice Fitzmaurice

SKOWHEGAN – Beatrice Fitzmaurice passed away on Nov. 17, 2022. Bea was born in Farmington, Feb. 4, 1931, the daughter of Guy and Mary (Laken) Chandler. Bea was educated in Wilton, graduating from Wilton Academy class of 1948.

On April 28, 1962 she married her soulmate and best friend Thomas Fitzmaurice Sr. and moved to Skowhegan.

Bea worked at Maine Spinning Company, Wyandotte Industries in Waterville and also operated Tom’s Exxon garage and wrecker service with her husband. She worked at Solon Mfg Co. until she retired.

Bea’s past times were dancing, RVing, crocheting, knitting, crosswords and she loved her New England Patriots. She also made a delicious pie now and then. Family and classic country music was always on top of the list.

Bea is survived by son Gregory Burton, Roy “Skeet” Fitzmaurice and wife Holly, daughter Joyce Curtis, Donna Gagne and partner Gene Blake, Deborah Gratto and husband Tim, stepchildren Tom Jr. and wife Sheila, Jerry and wife Sharon, Debbie and husband Don.

She was predeceased by husband Thomas Fitzmaurice Sr.; sons Garry Fitzmaurice, Ronald Burton, and Richard Burton; brother Leon Chandler, sister Margaret Barker, Thelma Cushman, Florence Collins, Mary Hutchinson.

Bea has 11 grandchildren, Tiffany, Molly, Robert, Nicholas, Shawn, Michael, Amie, Christina, Kari, Antonio, Christie, step grandchildren Tom III, Liz, Kenny, Jeffery, Jeremy, Lynn, Bethany; great grandchildren Abigayle, Lucas, Kolton, Hazel, Taylor, Jor-Ja, Marina, Morgan, Tucker, Emma, Brayden, Abigale, Logan, Thomas, step great grandchildren Thomas IV, Teddy, Colton, Asher, Mason, Kaden; and many nieces and nephews and friends.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Cedar Ridge Nursing Center for outstanding nursing care.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday Nov. 23 at 11 a.m. at Calvary Cemetery on North Ave. In Skowhegan.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Smart and Edwards Funeral Home 183 Madison Ave. Skowhegan.
