Debra Vickerson Millett

WINTHROP- Debra V. Millett, 61, of Winthrop passed away peacefully on Nov. 18, 2022 after a five year courageous battle with cancer.

She was born in Winthrop, Massachusetts, the youngest of James Jerrol Vickerson and Dorothy (Duquette) Vickerson.

The family moved to Winthrop, Maine early, where Debbie spent the rest of her life. She graduated from Winthrop High School and attended UMA, Mid-State College and SMCC. Debbie was very athletic, partaking in field hockey, basketball, softball, tennis, cheering, and cross-country skiing.

She was a hard worker at many jobs, but especially loved her 33 years as office manager of the family business, Sports Fields, Inc. She was a lifeguard, cook, waitress, and ran her own cleaning business.

She was very artistic and loved nature. Some of her interests were watercolors, stained glass, pottery, soap making, and quilting. She also was an avid gardener and beekeeper.

Debbie was a great cook and loved family get togethers, where she specialized in baking fantastic desserts.

On Oct. 2, 1999, Debbie married Kenneth J. Millett and they each brought two children to the blended marriage.

Debbie was preceded in death by her father, her mother-in-law, Barbara Millett, her brother-in-law, Kevin, and her beloved dogs, Reese and Madison.

She is survived by her mother, Dottie; father-in-law, Sawin Millett; husband, Ken; daughter, Alesia Francis, son, Patrick John Francis (Gina), step daughter, Katherine Millett (Miah Clark) and step son, Benjamin Millett. She is also survived by her siblings, Suzanne McManus (James), James Vickerson (Kristy), Bill Vickerson (Tracy), brother-in-law Kerry Millett and sister-in-law Kathy Ventrone (Tony); grandchildren, Kallie, Mason, Leah and Kinsly Clark; as well as numerous nieces and nephews along with canine companions Millie, Serius and Pudge.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit from 12-2 p.m. Wednesday, November 30 at Roberts Funeral Home, 62 Bowdoin Street, Winthrop, after which all are invited to a celebration of Debbie’s life at 2 p.m. at the Alfred W. Maxwell Jr. American Legion Post #40 in Winthrop.
