MADISON – Mary Elizabeth, Bishop,97, of Madison, passed away on Nov. 24 , 2022 in Waterville at Mount St. Joseph Nursing Home.

Mary was born in Solon on March 7, 1925, the daughter of Eldred and Artella (Powell) Heald. She graduated from Solon high school class of 1943, she received a DAR Good Will Citizenship award. Later Mary attended and graduated from Skowhegan Commercial School and in 1981 she attended and graduated from Pierre’s School of Cosmetology.

She was a cook for most of her life, working at Somerset residential, Redington Home, a restaurant in Bingham and the school of fine arts in Natick, Massachusetts, she also was employed as a nurses aide at Tissues, Nursing Home in Athens.

Mary sang with the Kennebells, Barber Quartet for several years, she enjoyed art, writing, knitting, crochet, gardening, and playing cards.

She was predeceased by a son, James Bishop, by her parents, all three brothers Arthur, Roger and Allen, and by three sister-in-law’s, Barbara, Alice and Doris.

Mary is survived by her son, Mike Bishop and his wife Donna , by her daughter Linda Libby Garland, by her grandchildren, Brandon Libby and his wife Stephanie Vermette, Scott Libby and his wife Laura, Jamie, Spencer and her husband, George, and Shelly Libby .She is also survive by seven great grandchildren and four great great grandchild.

A celebration of life will be held on Dec. 10, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at The Church of Faith 798 Canaan Road, Skowhegan.
