RUTLAND, Vt. – Dawn Marie Kitchin, 42, unexpectedly passed away in the early morning hours of Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2022, at her residence in Rutland, Vt. She was born on April 19, 1980, in Augusta, Maine, the daughter of Gail Marie Kitchin.

Dawn grew up in Maine where she attended Winslow High School. She lived in Winslow and in Vassalboro. She had her daughter May 19, 2002. Spending the younger years of her daughter’s life here in Maine, Dawn decided to relocate to Rutland in 2012, where she had been employed by several retail stores.

Dawn’s life wasn’t always easy. Growing up with spina bifida, she was told she would never walk. Dawn, with her courageous spirit however did, she walked, and enjoyed life to the fullest. Dawn loved spending time with her family. Almost every weekend during her time here in Maine, she was with her sisters. Dawn loved adventures and was always full of life. Her welcoming personality, bright smile, and warm heart made everyone around her feel like they were a part of her family.

After moving to Vermont Dawn enjoyed adventures with her life companion Larry ODonnell. They had dreams of buying a camper and traveling together. Dawn enjoyed her trips to New York with Larry, for her beauty products. Spending hours sometimes doing her makeup Dawn dreamed of becoming a beautician. Dawn had hopes of returning to Maine after traveling with Larry to settle down and start a new life with him here. Dawn’s down time included, sitting home watching TV or TikTok, playing board games, and she loved her cat, Miss Kitty.

Survivors include her daughter Miranda Gallo of Castleton, Vt.; her life companion Larry O’Donnell of Florence, Vt.; her three sisters Tasha Ahlgren from Winslow, Jennifer Coolidge from Fair Haven, Vt., and Katie Mason from Winslow; as well as several nieces, nephew’s, cousin’s, aunts and friends.

She was predeceased by her mother Gail; and brother- in-law Robert S. Ahlgren.

A celebration of life will be held in Maine at a later date and time. The family will update everyone as soon as the arrangements have been made.
