Robert George Webb

RANDOLPH – Robert George Webb passed December 6, 2022, at the Alfond Center for Health in Augusta after a short illness. He was born December 19, 1932, to William and Evelyn McGee Webb in Pittston, Maine.

Bob graduated from Gardiner High School in 1950 and married his high school sweetheart, Pauline Benner, in 1952. After high school he worked for Arthur McGee Trucking until 1957 when he began working in the lab for Hudson Pulp and Paper in Augusta. In 1969 Bob and Pauline purchased the Randolph Sunoco. He proudly owned and operated “the store’ for 20 years. At that time, he created the Randolph Redemption Center which he operated until he retired in 1992 at which time he moved to Florida where he spent the next 26 years, returning to Maine in 2018.

Bob thoroughly enjoyed the sport of harness racing and was the proud owner of dozens of harness horses during the 60 years he was active in the sport. He was most proud of Cheviot, who was the first horse in Maine to finish a mile in under two minutes, and Game Call who gave Cheviot a run for his money. One of his most rewarding experiences was that of being Race Secretary for Windsor Fair.

Bob was predeceased by his parents and his sisters, Margerite Bailey and Jean Webb, his special nephew Dan Bailey and his great granddaughter Josephine Rae Dube.

Bob is survived by his daughter Pam, and husband Dana Moody, and his son Doug, and wife Marnie Webb of Pittston, eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren as well as his lifelong friend and business partner Sonny Merrill of Chelsea. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

We would like to express a special heartfelt thank you to Bob’s earth angel, Courtney Goodreau for the wonderful care she provided to both Bob and his family during these final months.

Please join us for a celebration of life on Sunday, December 18, from 2 – 6 p.m., at the home of Pam and Dana Moody, 822 Blinn Hill Road East Pittston.
