Chase Hayward Fossett

GARDINER – Chase Hayward Fossett, 21, of Gardiner, died unexpectedly as a result of an automobile accident on Saturday, Dec. 10, 2022.

Chase was born on Sept. 20, 2001, the son of Scott and Laura (Hayward) Fossett.

Chase grew up in Gardiner, Maine, and graduated from Gardiner Area High School in 2020. He was an excellent student, played varsity soccer and lacrosse, and was extremely proud to be a captain his senior year. Chase was quiet and humble, and had many friends who love and miss him.

Chase was a junior at Maine Maritime Academy (MMA) where he was studying International Business and Logistics. He found his entrepreneurial spirit at age seven, by creating his own lemonade and pastry stand called “Chase’s Snack Shack.” Upon graduation, Chase intended to pursue his MBA with hopes of owning his own business. Chase’s time at MMA made an incredible impact on him. He mentioned often how much of an influence both his peers and professors had been to him.

Chase was a very caring young man with a contagious smile. He loved the outdoors. His favorite activities were fly fishing at Pierce Pond and Grand Lake Stream, skiing at Sugarloaf, and hunting at his family cabin.

Chase was and always will be deeply loved and greatly missed by his family, his mom and dad, sisters Hannah and Natalie Fossett, his extended family, friends, and Gardiner and MMA communities. He was very devoted to his family and friends and we all will carry so many memories of him.

The Fossett family has been touched by how much their family has enveloped them with love, so many people have reached out in support and how the community has come together in love to honor him. It just shows how many people Chase has impacted near and far.

We will always love you, Chase.

A memorial service will be held at Christ Church, located at 2 Dresden Avenue, Gardiner, on Monday, December 19, at 3 p.m., followed by a celebration of life in the great hall. In honoring Chase, we would like casual dress, such as flannel and jeans. The service will be live streamed on the Christ Episcopal Church Gardiner’s Facebook page.
