Adrienne (Adams) Doyle

TUSCON, Ariz. – Adrienne (Adams) Doyle, lately of Gardiner, Maine, died on Dec. 12, 2022, in Tucson, Arizona, shortly after a diagnosis of cancer.

She was born in Teaneck, New Jersey, on Feb. 5, 1942, to William F. and Louise Adams. She entered school at the tender age of four and graduated from Weehawken High School at seventeen. A tomboy as a girl – she beat the boys at stickball, to her parents’ chagrin – she became known as a woman of matchless class and style in her dress, in her decorating, and in her demeanor. Her standards were high and her generosity boundless. The knowledge of history and culture she obtained as a voracious reader with a keen intellect and wit made discussions with her engaging and informative, and she hosted a book group at her home on Dresden Avenue in Gardiner for many years. The flower beds that she kept inspired others in the area to do the same, and many were fortunate to take delight in her baking. Her intelligence and insight benefited her employers, who included particularly the Maine Army National Guard, for which she worked as lead purchasing agent, always making sure that the troops got what they needed while saving the taxpayers money.

She was a devoted mother to her two children, Noreen (of Tucson) and Lawrence (Larry) (of Glen Allen, Virginia), who are beyond grateful for her sacrifices and encouragement, which helped them achieve their successes in life. Besides Noreen and Larry, she is survived by her daughter-in-law, Carol Lund, her granddaughter, Maura, and many dear friends. Her passing is an immeasurable loss to us all.

Visiting hours at Staples Funeral Home and a private graveside service in Oak Grove Cemetery in Gardiner are planned for the spring.

Arrangements are entrusted with Staples Funeral Home, 53 Brunswick, Ave., Gardiner where condolences, memories and photos may be shared with the family at http://www.staplesfuneralhome.com.

A memorial fund is being established in her name at the Gardiner Public Library; donations are encouraged.
