Ralph Alcide Jean

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. – Ralph Alcide Jean, 78, passed away on Dec. 18, 2022, at Douglas T. Jacobson Veterans Home, Port Charlotte, Florida, after a long illness.

Ralph was born and raised in Augusta, Maine the only son of Marcella (Lajoie) Jean and Alcide Jean.

He was educated in Augusta parochial schools and public schools.

Ralph enlisted in the U.S. Navy Seabees at age 17 and retired after 27 years of service, the Seabees was his life. He traveled around the world three times and used to say he had been to places most people never heard of. He served two tours in Vietnam, he was a true American Patriot. His second love was his Harley Davidson motorcycles, he loved to ride and had many adventures on his bikes and made many biker friends.

He loved Maine and for many years spent his winters in Estero, Florida with his loving companion Suzanne LaGuardia and his little dog Lulu both of whom he loved very much.

Ralph was an active member of Le Club Calumet, Augusta and Lewiston Eagles, VFW, Elks Club, American Legion and Combat Veterans of America. Past member of H.O.G. and Rolling Thunder.

Ralph was a kind and compassionate man who would do anything for anybody. Many times in restaurants if he saw young working men eating he would tell the waitress to put their bill on his check. He would always shake the hands of Military people that he would encounter. To all Vietnam Veterans he always said “Welcome Home”.

Ralph was predeceased by his parents, and leaves behind his son Ralph Jean II of Ventura, California, his daughter Amanda Jean and son Zachary Jean and one grandson Mason all of Kingsville, Texas, his sister Katharine Murphy of Brunswick and his sister Nancy Doty of So. China. Suzanne LaGuardia and Lulu.

He also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews and wonderful friends.

A graveside service with Military honors will be held at Maine Veterans Cemetery, Mt. Vernon Road, Augusta in the spring. Announcement will be made at a later date.
