AUGUSTA – Thelma Paul Davis passed away peacefully at Maine General Rehab & Nursing Center in Augusta on Dec. 19, 2022, which was her 69th birthday. Thelma was born in Hallowell, the daughter of John Fuller Paul, Sr. and Celia Fitzsimmons.

Thelma spent many years working at the VA Hospital in the Nursing Department at Togus. Since retiring, Thelma had been a very active and dedicated volunteer with several area charitable organizations including Fresh Start, Bridging the Gap, The Warming Center and Addie’s Attic. She loved learning all the jobs and was a true asset. Thelma enjoyed cooking and was always sharing her goodies with those around her.

Thelma is survived by her daughter, Samantha Jamison and grandson, Jonathan. Also surviving are several siblings and their families, Richard Paul, Alicia Jellison and Mary Douin as well as friend and sister-in-law, Linda Hawes Paul (Lester’s widow).

Thelma was predeceased by her parents; brothers Lester, Edward, Gordon, John, and sister, Jane Maxim.

Thelma’s last wishes included thanking the Emmanuel Lutheran Episcopal Church, its pastor and her co-workers for taking special interest in her and visiting her at home. She felt their caring and kindnesses had made her a better person.

A remembrance for Thelma will be held in the spring with a graveside gathering at the Hallowell Village Cemetery.

Contributions in Thelma’s honor may be sent to any favorite food bank or shelter
