Ronald Edward St.Pierre

AUGUSTA – Ronald Edward St.Pierre, 87, passed away on Friday, Dec. 30, 2022, at Glenridge Long Term Care Facility in Augusta after an extended illness, with his wife and daughter by his side. He was born in Augusta on July 30, 1935, to the late Adelard and Madeline (Rogers) St.Pierre.

He lived in Augusta his entire life, graduating from Cony High School in 1955. He spent his entire working career with the State of Maine, Department of Labor retiring in 1986 after 29 years of dedicated service.

It was while he worked for the Department of Labor that he met the love of his life, Rosalie Turner from Rome, ME, and they married November 11, 1959. Together they had two children, Deborah Ann and Steven Edward.

Having grown up on Togus Pond, Ronnie loved to swim and fish. He was an avid sports fan and loved cheering on the local sports teams as well as the Boston teams (Red Sox, Celtics, Patriots, and Bruins). He also enjoyed harness racing, frequenting many racetracks throughout the state. He was a lifetime member of the Windsor Fair. Ronnie loved to go out to eat whether it was to celebrate a special day, breakfast with DOL retirees, Thursday night happy hour with friends, or a sunny day eating lobster and clams at the coast.

Ronnie was a long-time member of both the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks 964 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles 3137 in Augusta.

He was predeceased by his parents, Adelard and Madeline St.Pierre, in-laws, Leeman and Nathalee Turner; brothers-in-law Frank James and Sherman Clary, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Halden and Barbara Turner and Virginia and Stanley Potter; also a daughter-in-law, Mary St.Pierre.

Ronnie is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Rosalie (Turner) St.Pierre; daughter, Deborah Jacques and her husband Michael of Augusta, and son, Steven St.Pierre of Augusta. He was the proud Grampa to three granddaughters, Alicia Carl and her husband Jd of Winthrop, Natasha St.Pierre of Knoxville, Tenn., and Shania St.Pierre of Augusta. He was the proud Great Grampa to seven great grandchildren, Uriah Carl, Bentlee Carl, Jessalyn Carl, Kaidee Carl, Jacilee Carl, Jedidiah Ronald Carl, and Isabella St.Pierre-Robbins. He is survived by his three sisters, Jacquelyn James of Nashua, NH, Victoria Moody and her husband James of Jefferson and Sharon Clary of Chelsea; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He also leaves behind his faithful dog, Shadow.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Ramon Cheleuitte, MD for his many years of compassionate care.

The family would also like to thank MaineGeneral HomeCare for their dedicated assistance while Ron was being cared for at home, and Androscoggin Hospice for their support during his last month.

The family would like to give a special thank you to the Doctors, Nurses and Staff at MaineGeneral Long Term Care at Glendridge (Garden Neighborhood) for their extraordinary, loving, and compassionate care of Ron during his last five months.

Visiting hours for Ronnie will be held on Jan. 24 from 1-3 p.m. at Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home, 1 Church St., Augusta, Maine 04330, immediately following visitation will be a memorial service. There will be a private graveside service at the Forest Grove Cemetery (Green Street, Augusta) at a later date.
