Rhoda May (Chadbourne) Ayotte

HARMONY – Rhoda May (Chadbourne) Ayotte, 80, passed away Jan. 2, 2023, at her home in Harmony. She was born Aug. 5, 1942, in Hartland, the daughter of Ray and Frieda (Fowlie) Chadbourne.

Rhoda grew up in Harmony and graduated from Harmony High School where she played for the State Champion basketball team in their division. After living and working in Skowhegan for years, she moved to North Anson where she and her husband, Edward Joseph Ayotte, founded Mostly Moose, a business producing uniquely Maine based stuffed animals, which are still found throughout New England and beyond to this day. With him, she helped raise many stepchildren also.

Throughout her life, she was an avid bowler, prolific quilter and lover of beading. Her amazing creations grace many homes throughout Maine and beyond also. She was a truly remarkable and gifted craftswoman and an avid player of the on-line trivia game Sporkle.

Rhoda had four children, two of whom predeceased her. Daughter, Tammy P. Brown and son, David L. Chadbourne. She is survived by daughter, Angela E. Bouthot; son, Francis W. Brown; daughter-in-law, Marsha Chadbourne and partner and companion of many years Claire Cowette; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. It was her wish to be cremated and not to have a formal funeral service.

A Celebration of Life/graveside service will be held in the spring 2023 at the convenience of the family.
