Do you have a traditional cable TV subscription?
Bee Line Cable, local company that provides traditional cable TV subscriptions to thousands of customers in Somerset and Franklin counties, announced recently that it was being purchased by a much larger company, Charter Communications.
Now, Bee Line provides service for several communities, including East Millinocket, Millinocket, Anson, Madison, Skowhegan, Farmington, Wilton, and Industry.
It’s a business model that has been challenged in recent years as more streaming services offer customer options, including channels most associated with traditional cable TV subscriptions.
Charter Communications, which has a customer base of about 466,000, purchased Time Warner Cable in 2016 for $56.7 billion and has taken over as the dominant cable service provider in Maine. Under the acquisition, Charter will be absorbing Bee Line and all its assets within the region, as well as the personnel that Bee Line currently employs.
