Do you think L.L.Bean falsely advertised its boots as waterproof?

Famed Freeport retailer L.L.Bean Inc. is being sued for false advertising by a New York woman who says some of the company’s boots aren’t waterproof as claimed.

The class action lawsuit is seeking more than $5 million in damages for tens of thousands of potential class members. It claims a pair of Women’s Storm Chaser Boots purchased for between $100-$125 in March 2020 — which the suit says were advertised as waterproof — from an L.L.Bean store in Victor, New York. The suit says the woman experienced water leakage into the interior of the boots “after wearing them outside on an inclement weather day in or about April 2020.

The complaint therefore argues that the “waterproof” representations and warranties for the boots “were false and misleading.”

But what do you think? Do you think L.L.Bean falsely advertised its boots as waterproof?  Tell us in the poll and in the comments below.
