Charlotte Arlene Lachapelle

COCONUT CREEK, Fla. – Charlotte Arlene Lachapelle, 77, of Coconut Creek, Fla., and Manchester, passed away on Dec. 29, 2022, of Covid Pneumonia after a very brief hospitalization. She was born in Augusta, Maine March 15, 1945, the first of four children to Forest and Mary Green. She is predeceased by her parents; her brother, Forest E Green, Jr.; and her long term companion, Harvey Mitchell. She is survived by her husband, Ronald F. Lachapelle, Jr.; daughters, Dr. Twila Dawn Taylor-Curren (Douglas Curren) and Kimberly Anne Taylor-Castle; stepsons, Aron Plucinski and Joshua (Erin) Plucinski; siblings, Margaret Bromeling, and Frederick Green; niece, Kelly Green (Matt Sipala); nephew, Forest (Lauren) Green III; grandchildren, James Forest Castle and Ariel Brooke Wolfe; great granddaughter, Aurora Wolfe; mother-in-law, Clara (Callie) Fournier; sisters-in-law Nora (Fred) Cole, and Mary Lachapelle; brothers-in-law John (Norma Jeane) Lachapelle, and Carl (Dana) LaChapelle; plus several extended Family nieces and nephews.

Charlotte was a strong and independent single Mom who, on a secretary’s salary raised two daughters to be likewise. There was never a question whether her girls could go to college if they so chose. With the assistance of financial aid and many grants, her first-born daughter, Twila, attended the University of Maine at Orono and went on to obtain her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology. Her younger daughter, Kimberly, became a full time Mom who raised two beautiful children before embarking on her own working career.

Charlotte inspired a love of the beach in her 2 daughters by taking them to the beach every good weekend during summers. She loved finding a good bargain, reading psychological thrillers and mystery novels, cruises, listening to live music, RV “glamping,” scuba diving, kayaking, recumbent triking, and walking, walking, walking the stairs at 3302 Aruba Way.

Charlotte spent the majority of her working life as Administrative Staffer for the Veterans Administration at Togus, Maine until her retirement. She moved to Southeast Florida in November 2009 and had the great good fortune to meet and make many friends in her Wynmoor community.

The family will hold a private Celebration of Life ceremony in the summer of 2023 to scatter her remains at her favorite places along the Maine coast.
