WATERVILLE — Every Tuesday and Thursday in February, the Maine Film Center plans to host its “Love Makers + Rule Breakers” series, featuring eight date-worthy films about passion, transgression and sex.

From high-brow to low-brow, arthouse to chick flick, the series features spicy stories and characters who challenge the status quo, according to a news release from Mary Ellms, communications coordinator with Waterville Creates.

The eight films include the Academy Award-winning “Moonlight” and the popular “Fifty Shades of Grey.” With proof of ticket purchase (e.g. an online receipt), filmgoers can redeem 10 percent off their meals at Silver Street Tavern in downtown Waterville.

In addition, filmgoers who buy one dozen roses at Robin’s Nest and bring in a coupon or receipt will receive the member price on their film tickets. Draft beer, wine and fresh popcorn are available for purchase at the cinema.

Tickets cost $12 for adults and $10 for students and seniors. Tickets and trailers are available at mainefilmcenter.org.
