PITTSFIELD – Winifred Arline (Ham) Bane, 101, went home to be with the

Lord on Jan. 30, 2023. She was born Dec. 1, 1921, in Cambridge, a daughter of Andrew and Mabel (Page) Ham. She attended Cambridge schools and graduated from N. H. Fay High School in Dexter, Class of 1940. In 1943 she married Linwood H. Bane and lived on a dairy farm in Ripley in the early years. They moved to Pittsfield in 1947 and continued her role as wife and mother on a dairy farm.

Known for her hospitality, hard work, digging dandelion greens and exceptional biscuits, she lived out her years in the area.

She was predeceased by her husband Linwood, son and wife Galen “Jug” and Coleen Bane, son Rodney Bane and step daughter and son in law Joyce and Burley Holt.

Winnie is survived by her daughter in law Eloise Bane of Pittsfield, son and wife Brian and Sharon Bane in Pittsfield; grandchildren Kevin and Denise Holt in Burnham, Mona and Scott Tedesco in Unity, Rodney, Jr. and Dorie Bane in Pittsfield, Linda Bane in Pittsfield, Ellery and Tammy Bane of Burnham, Clint Bane in Pittsfield, Robert and Christie Bane in Skowhegan, and Emily Bane of Pittsfield. She had 11 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren, and all of her grandchildren knew her as “Nannie”.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, February 11, at Crosby & Neal, 117 Main Street, Newport, where friends may call from 1 p.m., until the time of services.
