WEST PARIS — The First Universalist Church of West Paris holds worship at 9 a.m. Sundays at 208 Main St.

Tom Coolidge will perform music. Refreshments will follow the service.

Services are as follows, according to a news release from Marta Clements, clerk board member, and Suzanne Dunham, publicity.

• Feb. 5, “Love Extravagantly,” led by guest speaker Marilyn Hammond. A reflection in word and song on the subject of love. Hammond is a member of the South Paris Unitarian Universalist church.

• Feb. 12, “It’s Not Easy Being Green,” led by the Rev. Fayre Stephenson. In 1962, Rachel Carson’s book “Silent Spring” exposed the reality of the dire consequences of environmental pollution. At this service, progress as individuals and as a congregation in restoring the environmental health of Mother Earth will be explored.

• Feb. 19, “Puritans vs. Anglicans: How 17th century Maine was an early refuge for religious believers from the small-minded and tyrannical tendencies of the Puritans of Massachusetts Bay.” The service is led by Jennifer Wixson, who, with her husband, is a farmer and author living in Troy.

• Feb. 26, “Epiphanies,” led by Stephenson. The Merriam-Webster dictionary says that an epiphany is “usually a sudden manifestation or perception of the essential nature or meaning of something or an intuitive grasp of reality through something (such as an event) usually simple and striking.” Congregants will consider the religious and personal significance of epiphanies.
