SALEM — Payton Mitchell scored 16 points and Mt. Abram overcame a 10-point deficit in the fourth quarter to beat Spruce Mountain 45-41 in boys basketball action Monday.

Mt. Abram (14-3) led 14-3 after the first quarter, but then was held to six points in each of the next two quarters and trailed 36-26 heading into the fourth.

In the final period the Roadrunners limited the Phoenix to five points while three Mt. Abram players accounted for all 19 of the team’s points: Cam Grey made two 3-pointers and scored eight, Bryce Wilcox had six and Payton Mitchell five.

Those three accounted for all but two of the Roadrunners’ 45 points: Mitchell led the way with 16 points, while Wilcox finished with 15 and Grey had 12. Killian Pillsbury scored the other two points.

Ian York, who made three 3s, was Spruce Mountain’s (13-4) top scorer with 15 points. Elie Timler scored nine and Jace Bessey (two 3s) added eight.

OAK HILL 77, BUCKFIELD 39: Eli Desmond and Ethan Vattaso each scored 12 as Oak Hill dismissed Buckfield in a Mountain Valley Conference game.

The Raiders (4-13) jumped out to 33-17 lead by halftime against the Bucks (3-14). Oak Hill’s Gage Spier and Cooper Scott each contributed 11 points and Maverick Swan added 10.

Buckfield’s Ayden Jefferson did most of the heavy work on offense, scoring the game-high 29 points.

 

LISBON 62, WINTHROP 55: Levi Tibbetts and Chase Mailhot each scored 16 points to lead the Greyhounds in Lisbon.

Gavin Grenier helped out with 11 points for the ‘Hounds (10-8).

Braden Branagan and Matt Beck each scored 22 and 15 points respectively for Winthrop (7-10).

 

CARRABEC 69, VALLEY 36: Luke Carey scored 22 points to lead the Cobras to the win in North Anson.

Joel Gehrke added 20 points for Carrabec (11-7).

Fisher Tewksbury scored a game-high 26 points for Valley (10-7).

OLD ORCHARD BEACH 76, HALL-DALE 40: Brady Croteau and Landen Johnson each had 12 first half points, as the Seagulls (16-2) finish their regular season rolling to the win in Old Orchard Beach.

Both players finished with 20 points for Old Orchard Beach (16-2), while JamesErickson added 10.

Carter Bourque and TJ Wilson had nine points apiece for Hall-Dale (6-9).

 

MONMOUTH 49, NYA 26: The Mustangs rallied with a 15-5 second quarter run to take a 19-13 halftime lead and cruised to the win in Yarmouth.

Sammy Calder contributed 17 points for Monmouth (14-3), while Gavin Gregor tossed in 15.

Moses Semuhoza had 10 points to lead NYA (5-12).

 

GIRLS BASKETBALL

 

WINTHROP 58, KENTS HILL 43: Morgan Fitchhorn threw in 15 points and Bella Littler and Madeline Wagner each had 13 as the Ramblers rolled to a victory in Winthrop.

Wagner also went seven for nine from the foul line for Winthrop (12-6.

Kents Hill’s (16-2) Logan McDonald turned in the game-17 points and Rose Jenkins had 14.

 

OAK HILL 63, BUCKFIELD 39: Peyton Gonya scored 20 points, and Aubrey McElhaney and Ari Thibeault dropped in 16 and 13, respectively, to direct the Raiders (8-10) past the Bucks (3-14) in Wales.

Kianna Finnegan scored nine points and Sarae Defoe had eight for Buckfield.

 

OLD ORCHARD BEACH 60, HALL-DALE 49: The Seagulls overcame a rough first quarter by outscoring the Bulldogs in each of the next three to claim the win in Farmingdale.

Elise MacNair scored 36 points to lead the way for Old Orchard Beach (15-3), and Sarah Davis added 16.

Hayden Madore poured in a team-high 19 points for Hall-Dale (13-4). The Bulldogs also got 14 points from Amanda Trepanier.

 

MADISON 59, FOREST HILLS 37: Mackenzie Robbins scored 16 points to lead the Bulldogs to the win in Madison.

Raegan Cowan added 12 points and six assists for Madison (10-6).

Carli Fergon led Forest Hills (12-5) with 14 points while Grace Allen chipped in 12.

NYA 74, MONMOUTH 25: Sarah English had 19 points for the Panthers as they used a 31-3 third quarter run to pull away for the win in Monmouth.

Graca Bila had 18 points, Ella Giguere chipped in with 13 and Madilyn Onorato added 10 for NYA (16-1).

 

OCEANSIDE 55, MARANACOOK 41: Audrey Mackie scored 22 points to lead the Mariners (16-0) past the Black Bears (9-7) in Readfield.

Abrianna Hoose scored 13 points, while Bailey Breen added 12 points for Oceanside.

Allie LaBelle and Katya Wurth each led Maranacook with nine points.

Monmouth falls to 11-5.
