BROOKSVILLE, Fla. – Amy Louise Curtis, 65, of Brooksville, Fla., passed away unexpectedly on Jan. 19, 2023 surrounded by her children. The family is deeply saddened and shocked by her sudden death.
She was born on Jan. 9, 1958, in Augusta, to Kenneth and Gloria (LeClair) Lucas. She grew up in Readfield with her eight siblings. Amy attended Readfield Elementary School and graduated from Winthrop High School in 1976.
After high school she started working as a cook at the Kmart Restaurant. Amy loved cooking and worked at Denny’s Restaurant after she moved to Florida.
She married her husband of 35 years, Robert Curtis on Dec. 16, 1978 and gained eight stepchildren, Robert Jr., Kenneth, Gerald, Kevin, Red, Lance, Rebecca and Joyce.
Amy was a devoted mother, stepmother and grandmother.
She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and had a passion for raising chickens.
Amy is survived by her children Cameron (Natalie) Curtis, Brooksville, Fla., Ryan (Terri) Curtis, Brooksville, Fla., Tracey Curtis, Brooksville, Fla.; grandchildren, Andrea, Cierra, Hunter, Cameron Jr., Savannah, Nathanial, Malcolm and Manny; four brothers, Kenneth (Liz) Lucas of Benton, Larry (Sandra) Lucas of Readfield, David (Kim) Lucas of Mount Vernon, Peter (Julie) Lucas of Readfield, four sisters, Pamela (Mark) Blattel of Milton, Del., Nancy (Robert) Cornell of Augusta, Lisa Lucas of Readfield and Mary Bridges of Winthrop; as well as beloved cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Amy is predeceased by her father, Kenneth Lucas, Sr.; and her husband, Robert Curtis.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
