PORTLAND — A federal judge sentenced an Auburn man to 78 months in prison Thursday for receiving and having child pornography.
Dylan Carmichael-Margel, 31, formerly of Hollis, will be on supervised release for five years after he’s released from prison, U.S. District Court Chief Judge Jon D. Levy ordered.
Carmichael-Margel also was ordered to pay $34,000 in restitution.
He pleaded guilty June 23, 2022, to the two felony charges, each of which is punishable by up to 20 years in prison.
According to court records, Carmichael-Margel knowingly received and possessed images and videos of child sexual abuse material between May 2020 and January 2021.
Some of the images depicted children younger than 12.
In January 2021, Homeland Security Investigations executed a search warrant at Carmichael-Margel’s home in Hollis and seized a cellphone and laptop.
Child sexual abuse material was recovered from both devices. Child sexual abuse images recovered from the cellphone included victims as young as 2 years old.
