GARDINER — The Gardiner girls basketball team closed out a perfect regular season Thursday with a 56-39 victory over Skowhegan in a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class A showdown.

Lizzy Gruber had a triple-double for Gardiner (18-0) with 20 points, 13 rebounds and 11 blocks. The Tigers also got 13 points from Megan Gallagher and 10 points from Savannah Brown.

Allie Frey had 15 points for Skowhegan (7-11) in the loss.

 

MONMOUTH 51, MOUNTAIN VALLEY 36: Grace Levesque scored 14 points, and Kaitlyn Frost and Reese Beaudoin each supplied 12 points in the Mustangs’ victory in Rumford.

Mountain Valley was in command at the half with a 25-17 lead before Monmouth (12-6) erupted with 25 points in the third quarter. Holly Hunt aided the Mustangs’ cause with 11 points.

Emma Clukey scored 12 points for Mountain Valley (7-11).

 

ERSKINE 61, MESSALONSKEE 46: Erskine outscored Messalonskee 24-12 in the fourth quarter to hold on for the season-ending win in Oakland.

Emma Stred scored 17 points for Erskine (6-12) while Cassie LaCroix added 16 and Mackenzie Toner chipped in 13.

Messalonskee (1-17) was led by Ashley Mullin with 17 points, seven rebounds and four blocks while Sophia Ventimiglia added 11 points, four rebounds and three steals.

BOYS BASKETBALL

 

SKOWHEGAN 63, GARDINER 33: The River Hawks outscored the Tigers 35-16 in the first half en route to the victory in Skowhegan.

Kyle LePage and Collin LePage scored a respective 18 points and 16 points for Skowhegan (12-6). The River Hawks closed out the regular season on a four-game winning streak.

Colby Moody made four 3-pointers to finish with a team-high 12 points for Gardiner (3-15).

 

TEMPLE 56, PINE TREE 44: Nathan Corey hit seven 3-pointers and finished with 24 points as the Bereans won in Waterville.

Peyton Reckards added 15 points for Temple (6-11).

Samuel Batista led Pine Tree (0-14) with nine points.
