AUGUST — Our family is sad to announce that on Feb. 11, 2023. we lost the matriarch of our family, Constance P. Russell at the age of 95 with her family by her side.

Fondly known as “Connie”, she was a beloved mom, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister. At the time of her death, after only spending a couple of weeks in skilled care, she had lived for two years with her daughter, Muriel Patnaude, and her husband Bob, who provided loving care, along with other family members living there; Melissa, Ben, Ashley, Jennifer, and Jacob. She was never left alone and always made it a point to say, “that blind is crooked, or that clock is off by one minute”. As crazy as it sometimes got, we will never regret having taken her in and enjoying so many moments together. Above all, it was more often than not, Muriel was the one that endured the many daily chores such as cooking, med management, taking her to appointments, and keeping her most healthy. The family is most grateful for everything she did for her, sacrificing so much of her own time.

Connie was born on Nov. 5, 1927 to Delvina and Bernis Pelletier in Augusta. Connie was not only a wonderful homemaker, she worked at Hazard Shoe for years and enjoyed her many years working in the cafeteria at St. Augustine’s School, serving home-style meals to so many school children. She was also a member of the Cushnoc Senior Group, and the Ladies of St. Anne.

Connie enjoyed sewing, gardening, keeping an immaculate home, but most of all, she was the happiest surrounded by and nurturing her family with her unconditional love.

Connie was predeceased by her parents, her first husband Robert A Gilbert, her second husband, Girard Paul Russell, her two year old son, Ronnie, and her brother Patrick Pelletier.

She is survived by her daughters, Muriel C. Patnaude and husband Robert J. Patnaude, Patricia Wing and her husband Michael Wing, and son Norman Gilbert, stepsons, Don Russell and wife Julie, and Bill Russell, along with step grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Sister Muriel Pelletier.

She is also survived by five grandchildren, Melissa Curll and her husband Ben, Ashley Patnaude, Jessica DeStefano and her husband Nick, Kelli Susee, and Brittany Susee; and three great-grandchildren, Jennifer Ackerman, Jacob Ackerman, and Sophia DeStefano.

Connie has definitely left a huge void in our lives, but her love and memories will live on for many years. We were blessed to have her for so many years.

A very special “thank you” goes to the staff at Maine General Medical Center, Emergency Room and 3West, St. Mary’s D’Youville Pavilion, skilled unit, where she only resided a few days, Central Maine Medical Center Emergency Room, Augusta Fire/Rescue, Winthrop Ambulance, and United Ambulance that provided excellent care while taking her to and bringing her home during different events. All of this was only during the past few weeks. The care and comfort provided to her and our family by these agencies will never be forgotten.

Visitation for Connie will be held on Friday, Feb. 17, 2023 from 9am to 10:30 a.m at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at St. Augustine Catholic Church on Northern Avenue in Augusta at 11am. A graveside service will be held in the spring at Holy Family Cemetery, Townsend Road, Augusta.
