LITCHFIELD – Madelyn Patricia (Patty) Harvey went to live with her Lord on February 12, 2023. Patty was 89 years young. She was surrounded by family as they sang her into heaven. She was born on Jan. 12, 1934 to Julia and Edward Fish. She was matriarch to a very large and devoted family who will always remember her strength, courage, spirit and love.

Patty married Merrill (Tutt) Harvey on January 30, 1954 and they remained united in love until his passing. In their 61 years of marriage, they grew a farm and a family. What a family it was! Patty leaves behind her children; Dawn Mills, Kim Tessari and husband Victor, Taffe Robbins and her partner Doug Read, Margaret (Meg) Harvey, son- in- law Dan Washburn and Jennifer Oliver and her husband Dustin. She will be remembered by her beloved and cherished grandchildren whom she helped raise: Scott, Isaiah and Rance Mills, Courtney and Chelsey Goudreau, Eben Tessari, Brian Robbins and Mallory Marks, William and Zackary Harvey, Elijah, Luke and Olivia Washburn, Oakley, Anastasiya and Madelyn Oliver and their spouses and 11 great grandchildren, her sister Marilyn Moore and husband John. She was predeceased by her daughter Dorothy Washburn and her son Brian as well as her beloved husband.

Patty will be missed by her community and appreciated for all the work she did. She was a member of the Litchfield Plains Baptist Church where she served as the Sunday School Superintendent, teacher, and committee member. She was a 60-year Grange member and served as Master of the Juvenile Grange as well as the Farm Family Grange. She was a past president of the Legion Auxiliary for many years and held the position of Matron of the Eastern Star Mystic Chapter 69. She worked on many committees for the Litchfield Farmer’s Club and enjoyed helping with the fair. She volunteered at the schools and loved reading to the kids. She served as an election clerk for the Town of Litchfield.

Patty was an artist at heart and loved gardening, painting, quilting, music, dancing and all things crafty. She was an active member of the Litchfield Senior Center and learned to play the banjo at 80. Her plants, music and painting were healing and she shared this talent with her family often.
But most of all, besides her Savior, Patty loved her family. She adored spending time with her girls and was a devoted grandmother to her many grands and greats. Her sister, Marilyn Moore, was her best friend and confidant. She and Tutt traveled often with Marilyn and her husband John as well as her dear friend Elaine Clary and her husband Tom.

Patty never turned a child away. There are many in town who will tell stories of her love and the influence it had on their lives.
She loved adventure and traveled with Tutt around the world including snowmobiling in Yellowstone, many bus excursions, tropical trips and cruising to Alaska. Always up for a new quest!

Patty loved her camp, her home, her view in the bay window as she read her morning devotions and her strong coffee. Preferably with a lot of whipped cream! Her determination and feistiness were well known by her family. She was a force to be reckoned with! We will miss her and remember all she taught us until we meet again.

The family would like to thank Maine General Hospice, The Maine Veteran’s Home and her home caregivers, Courtney, Maegan, Jessie and Cierra for the excellent care of our Mom.
