SKOWHEGAN – Claudette Rosaline Roy, 82, of Skowhegan, Maine, passed away on the evening of Feb. 19, 2023, at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.

Claudette was born in Frenchville, Maine, on April 6, 1940, the daughter of Sylvio and Patricia (Bourgoin) Roy and overcame countless obstacles in her youth, including the insurmountable challenge of being a teen mom. Though her life’s work was primarily raising her children with unconditional love, She also served the State of Maine in the Maine Job Service as a Center Manager in Madawaska, Houlton, Millinocket, and Skowhegan amongst other fine Maine communities. One of her greatest joys was being able to find gainful employment for, and the accompanying well-being, to people in these communities. One of the highlights of Claudette’s life was her time living in Puerto Rico for over a decade. She had very fond memories of Jobos Beach, Puerto Rican food, and her many adopted stray island pets. Claudette will be remembered for her joie de vivre, infectious laugh, and, of course, her fantastic blueberry pies.

For everything she did in life, she will be best remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and a great friend. She was predeceased by her parents as well as one of her siblings.

Claudette is survived by her three children, Dr. Robert Sanborn, Lorrie Sanborn and Steven Sanborn, her grandchildren Ginny Sanborn, Joshua Cyr and Matthew Cyr, as well as five great grandchildren, five siblings and many nieces and nephews.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Giberson Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Madison & Bingham, Maine.
