Jason Daniel Corbett

AUGUSTA – Jason Daniel Corbett of Augusta passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2023, at Augusta Center for Health and Rehabilitation of cardiac arrest.

In 2018, Jason had a stroke that left him unable to swallow and was being fed through a feeding tube. Recently he was undergoing chemo/immunotherapy to treat his second bout of lung and neck cancer. He was 49.

Jason was born in Belfast Maine on March 31, 1973, to Daniel and Sharon (Harvey) Corbett.

Jason was the “baby” of the family, having two older sisters when he came into this world. Lila was 8 and Caroline was almost 6 when Jason was born. With his arrival the family was complete.

Jason enjoyed working many jobs over the years. His first job was at Arby’s when he was a teenager. He recently laughed but was not surprised that his sister Lila still had his Arby’s name tag. Jason worked for the City of Augusta as a landscaper, and with his brother-in-law Mark Blais’ roofing business.

Jason enjoyed fishing when he was younger and loved to swim and play baseball. The family played a lot of board and card games and Jason became proficient at Chess. He also took his Cribbage game very seriously! He was a master at both and he knew it! In recent years his favorite pastime was playing Yahtzee, Solitaire and a host of other games on his phone. He said it helped him focus on something positive and anyone who visited him knew how focused he could be while playing the online games!

Jason loved all types of music, but his favorites were the country outlaws, particularly Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings. He said he loved their music, their attitudes and in some way could relate to them.

Jason had a small circle but was particularly close with his nephew Joe Stump. They were more than uncle/nephew-they were like brothers.

Jason is predeceased by his mother, Sharon (Harvey) Corbett in October 2021 and his father, Daniel A. Corbett in September 2022.

Jason is survived by sister, Lila Beaulieu and her husband Steven of Augusta; sister, Caroline Blais and her husband Mark of Augusta; his children, Mariah Mitchell and her husband Cody of Raymond, Emily Corbett and her wife McKayla of Union along with their children Hailee and Jason, and Jacob Mills-Lightner and his sister Marissa Mills-Lightner.

Jason’s home since May 2022 was at the Augusta Center for Health & Rehabilitation. The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to the nurses who showed extra kindness and care for Jason, especially his favorite nurse, Eva. He felt very at home. Jason was also blessed with a wonderful roommate, Father Levesque, who watched over him.

Jason will be buried in the late spring next to his parents at Kling Cemetery in Augusta.
