Charlotte M. (Leavitt) Woodbury

PLYMOUTH – Charlotte M. (Leavitt) Woodbury, 81, went home to be with the Lord on Feb. 25, 2023. Mom was born in Pittsfield on Feb. 2, 1942, the daughter of Miles and Lottie (Sparrow) Leavitt. She was educated in Pittsfield schools and graduated from M.C.I., class of 1960. Through the years Mom worked at S.A.S. in Pittsfield, Dexter Shoe, and worked as a C.N.A. at the Pittsfield Nursing Home. She was an amazing mother and worked hard raising her three children, but her favorite job was babysitting her grandchildren. Family was everything to Mom and she was the happiest when spending time with them. She had a great sense of humor and loved gardening, bird watching, babying the family cats and dogs, taking rides to the ocean, reading, listening to Elvis, watching the Celtics play on TV and listening to her son’s morning radio show.

Mom was a great cook and was well known for her custard pies, buttercup squash, and molasses cookies. She loved music and was quite a dancer, especially when showing off her jitterbug skills. Mom could play the accordion and had a beautiful voice which she often used in earlier years singing with Dad. She especially enjoyed hearing her kids sing together and attended every Kindred Hearts concert she could. Mom loved attending anything her grandkids were part of, whether music or sports, and was always so proud and supportive.

She was a member of the Jubilee Family Worship Center for many years. Mom’s faith in the Lord was very important to her, and she was a wonderful, dedicated, selfless example for her family to follow. She was a praying Mom and Grandmother and was a quiet but strong example of unconditional love, understanding, and unwavering devotion to her family.

Mom is survived by three children: Diane (Rob) Briggs of Newport, Brian (Nichole) Woodbury of East Newport, and Amy (Mike) Dillon of Plymouth; seven grandchildren, Joshua (Mary) Whitmore of Indian Head, Md., Joel Whitmore of Indian Head, Md., Jordan (Kezzie) Woodbury of Winterport, Ryan (Sadie) Dillon of Hermon, Jared (Hailey) Woodbury of Plymouth, Jasmin (Alec) Errickson of Newport, and Ethan Dillon of Plymouth; six great grandchildren, Ella Rose, Jameson, Zachary, Valerie, Elijah, Jack, and baby Charlotte arriving in August 2023.

A special thanks for the Rev. Carl Engstrom for his faithful encouragement to Mom, and to her special friend Diane Snowdeal for the same.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Those who wish may leave written condolences at http://www.CrosbyNeal.com.
