March First Friday events a planned for downtown Waterville from 4-7 p.m. Friday at multiple locations on Main Street.

A celebration of the Youth Art Month (YAM) exhibition is set. This year marks the 9th annual YAM exhibition, and organizers are able to expand this program by partnering with Colby’s Greene Block + Studios. Student work will be displayed at both Ticonic Gallery, at 93 Main St., and Greene Block + Studios, at 18 Main St. This year’s theme is Your Art, Your Story.

In conjunction with March First Friday, people can create ther own movable self-portrait puppet with stamps, collage, and more. This project ties into Take the World in Your Arms, the Ashley Bryan/Paula Wilson exhibit at the Colby’s Joan Dignam Schmaltz Gallery, and Your Art Your Voice, the Youth Art Month exhibit at Ticonic Gallery + Studios.

Mobile Exhibits with Children’s Discovery Museum will be on view from 4-5:30 p.m.
Green Screen Family Photos are set for 4:30-6:30 p.m.
Take the World in Your Arms Exhibition Opening Remarks from Colby College Museum of Art staff and special guests will begin at 5 p.m.
Choral Performance by Waterville Senior High School students, led by Ciara Hargrove, Waterville schools choral director, is set for 6:30 p.m. at the Greene Block + Studios.
Children’s Book Giveaway from Colby College Museum of Art: Children ages 12 and younger will receive a children’s picture book by award-winning author and illustrator Ashley Bryan. A variety of titles will be available from 4-7 p.m.
Art work for Youth art Month will be view at Ticonic Gallery and Greene Block + Studios.
