Richard J. Poulin

EAST WINTHROP – Richard J. Poulin, 88, also of Zephyrhills, Fla., died Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2023 at the Coastal Manor in Yarmouth, following a long illness, with his loving wife by his side. He was born in Augusta on Jan. 1, 1935, a son of the late Lucien E. and Merilda M. (Pare) Poulin.

Mr. Poulin attended Augusta schools and was a communicant of St. Augustine Catholic Church. He had been a self-employed cabinet maker for most of his life. He also drove tour buses for many years. Mr. Poulin was a member of the Masons, the Calumet Club and the Knights of Columbus.

He was predeceased by a son, Daniel Poulin; three brothers, Rene, Roland and Jean-Paul Poulin and two sisters, Muriel Poulin and Pauline Poulin.

Mr. Poulin is survived by his wife of 63 years, Claudette M. (Rodrigue) Poulin of East Winthrop; four sons, David R. Poulin of Kenai, Alaska, Donald Poulin and his wife Elizabeth of Boise, Idaho, Larry Poulin of Seattle, Wash. and Roger Poulin of Seattle, Wash.; a daughter, Diane Poulin of Tacoma, Wash.; three brothers, Raymond Poulin and his wife Lucille of Augusta, Gerard Poulin and his wife Debbie of Augusta and Alphonse Poulin of Belgrade, three sisters, Lucille Bolduc and her husband Donald of Augusta, Noella Poulin of Augusta and Jeanne Clement of Belgrade; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Relatives and friends may visit on Thursday, March 9 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, March 9 at 11 a.m. at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Northern Ave., Augusta. Burial and committal prayers with military honors will follow at the new Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Mt. Vernon Rd., Augusta.
