Mark Steven Bennett

MERCER/NORTH MONMOUTH – Mark Steven Bennett, 68, passed away unexpectedly at Redington Fairview Hospital in Skowhegan on Thursday, March 9, 2023, with family by his side.

He was born July 9, 1954, in Augusta, Maine, the son of Harry P. and Ellen M. Bennett (Dunn). He grew up in North Monmouth and graduated in 1973 from Monmouth Academy. He worked at Branding Iron Restaurant as a cook in high school. In 1974, he went on to work at Tex-Tech Industries in the maintenance department for 46 years until his retirement in 2019.

In the 1980s he owned and operated Mark Bennett Welding and Fabrication in Readfield. He received many certificates throughout his career for pipe welding, boiler operations, metal-arc welder, and high-pressure boiler operator.

Mark loved cooking and he was a great cook, brook fishing, hunting, and spending time with family and friends. He always loved a good laugh.

He is predeceased by his parents, Harry and Ellen Bennett.

He is survived by his daughter Mandy Bennett and partner Michael LaVoie of Pittston, his son Craig Bennett and fiancé Sarahlynn Robinson of St. Albans. His grandchildren, Cameran and Christian Favreau of Pittston, and Logan and Christopher Bennett.

His sisters Susan and brother-in-law Dan Niles of North Monmouth, Sally and brother-in-law John Bussell of Winthrop, also many other family members.

Mark, Dad, “Pa”, Papa will be missed at his request there will be no service or visiting hours. Arrangements are in the care of Family First Funeral Homes, 445 Waterville Road, Skowhegan, ME 04976.

The family would like to thank all the staff at Redington Fairview Hospital Emergency Department for their care and compassion.

A celebration of life will be held at a later time for immediate family.
