Joan P. (Dufour) Belanger

LEWISTON – Joan P. (Dufour) Belanger, 85, passed away on Thursday, March 16, 2023, at the Marshwood Center in Lewiston after a lengthy illness. She was the wife of the late Libby Belanger with whom she shared 62 years of marriage.

Joan was born Dec. 13, 1937, in Augusta. She is the daughter of the late Thomas and Anna (Gregoire) Dufour.

Joan worked in the Shoe Industry as a sprayer for many years until her retirement. She worked at Hazard Shoe. In 1957 she married Libby Belanger and they moved to Augusta. Joan enjoyed playing her guitar, singing and listening to music. She also enjoyed playing Bingo and watching horse racing.

Joan is survived by her two daughters, Darlene Michaud and her husband Conrad of Manchester, Lisa Nadeau and her husband Daniel of Belgrade; four grandchildren, Shawn Michaud and his partner Rebecca of Manchester, Tiffany Wood and her husband John of Whitefield, Derek Michaud and his fiancé Yvonne of West Gardiner, and Thomas Nadeau and his fiancé Rachel of Belgrade; two great-grandsons, Finley Wood and Liam Wood of Whitefield; also survived by many nieces and nephews including Lorraine Mansir of Randolph and Connie Keith of Litchfield.

In addition to her parents and husband, Joan was predeceased by her sisters Marion Quirion and Lucienne Belanger.

In honoring with Joan’s wishes there will be a graveside service in Holy Family Cemetery, Augusta in the spring.
