Paul David Suitter

GARDINER – Paul David Suitter, 75, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on March 17, 2023. Paul was born in Gardiner on Feb. 15, 1948, the son of Gilbert and Martha (Newell) Suitter.

Paul lived in Gardiner most of his life. Following graduation from Gardiner Area High School, he proudly served his country in the Army. Paul worked many jobs including 32 years at BIW where he retired in 2010 as an insulator.

He was an avid New York Yankees fan. Paul was a longtime member of the Gardiner Nazarene Church where he served as a board member, buildings and grounds worker and Sunday School superintendent. He also served in children’s ministry and was known to the kids for his famous grilled cheese sandwiches. Paul loved serving God and loved his church family.

Paul is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Reita Suitter; children, Richard Neptune (his nephew whom he raised and loved dearly as a son) and his wife Kathy, David Suitter and wife Jennifer Suitter, Timothy Suitter and significant other Sara Ladd; grandsons Garrett Neptune, Lucas Suitter, Josiah Suitter, Gage Suitter and Nikolas O’ Connor, granddaughters Kassidy Neptune, Vanessa Neptune and Kinsley Suitter; brother, Donald Suitter, sisters Patricia Mansir, Nancy and husband Evan Plourde; many other close family members to include nieces and nephews, some he was known to as “Uncle Paul” and others as “Pap”.

He was predeceased by his parents; and brothers Gilbert and Peter Suitter.

Visiting hours will be at the Gardiner First Church of the Nazarene, 6 Nazarene Way, Gardiner on Saturday, March 25 from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Celebration of Life service will be held at 3 p.m. at the church. Burial will occur at a later date at the Litchfield Plains Cemetery, in Litchfield.

Paul was passionate about sending children and teens to church camp, so in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Gardiner Church of the Nazarene for Children’s Ministry.
