Allan Burton Staples

READFIELD – Allan Burton Staples, 71, of Readfield, died unexpectedly at his home with his wife by his side on Monday, March 20, 2023.

Allan was born in Augusta on Nov. 29, 1951, the son of Burton and Alice (Davis) Staples.

He grew up in Readfield, graduating from Winthrop High School in 1970, and made a successful career from various sales roles before semi-retiring in 2011. Al was his own man, one who never did anything half-way, including the deep love and affection he had for his family and friends. He was a devoted husband and father, and a dedicated employee. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, spending time at his camp, and telling stories – some of which were even true!

In addition to his parents, Allan was predeceased by brothers Ray, Russell, Wayne, and Danny.

Allan is survived by his wife of 48 years, Deborah (Jamison) Staples; son, Seth, his wife Amy, and their son, Henry (the only one allowed in Gramps’ chair!) of Hollis; son, Shawn of Readfield; sister, Helen Cunningham of Leeds, sister Nancy Bosse and her husband Richard of Leeds; and a large extended family of in-laws, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A celebration of his life will be held this summer.

Arrangements are entrusted with Staples Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 53 Brunswick Ave., Gardiner. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared with the family on the obituary page of the Staples Funeral Home website, http://www.staplesfuneralhome.com.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to local humane societies in recognition of Al’s special canine companions over the years.
