James Edward Turner

AUGUSTA – James Edward Turner, 59, passed away March 17, 2023 while surrounded by his family.

He was born April 24, 1963, 11 minutes after his twin brother, John. A son of Lorelai Turner Thompson and John Harold Turner Sr. James grew up in Gardiner and Augusta, graduating from Cony High School in the class of 1981.

A hard working man, for many years he was employed as a drywaller. In recent years, he worked building custom cars along side of his brother, Steve.

James had many talents and interests including cooking, gardening and building. He was well known for his prize winning floats he built for the Great Kennebec River Whatever Race! He loved to watch football and was a huge Jets fan! Above all, James loved his family and will be remembered as a well loved man who could make something out of nothing.

James was predeceased by his daughter, Mallory Lloyd; and his father, John Turner Sr..

He is survived by his beloved daughter, Meagan Desjardins and her husband Brian; his grandson, Carter James Desjardins; his mother and biggest fan, Lorelai Thompson and her husband Stephen Thompson; siblings John Turner Jr. and his wife Jolene, sister and best friend, Sue-ann Sanford and her husband Dale, Stephen Thompson II, and Jon Turner and his wife Jessica; nieces and nephews Jasmine Turner, Jason Turner, David Sanford and his wife Brittany, special niece, Emily Buck and her husband Spencer, and Jackson Turner; and great-nieces and nephews Owen Sanford, Isla Sanford and James’ little buddy, Lincoln Buck, and Lorelai Buck.

A memorial visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 29 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta, ME 04330.
