The University of Southern Maine baseball team scored four runs in the first inning and four more in the ninth on its way to a 10-1 win over Husson University of Tuesday in Bangor.

Tom Vesosky was 4 for 5 with a double and scored twice for the Huskies (5-12). Jonathan Wilson and Janek Luksza each also had two hits, including a double, and Anthony Poole drove in two runs. Kyle Douin and Dylan Firmin each added a double.

Matt Burnett pitched four innings, allowing one run on four hits for Southern Maine. Kyle Skolfield earned the win with three innings of scoreless relief.

Ty Knowlton had two hits for Husson (4-9).

BOWDOIN 11, UMAINE-FARMINGTON 0: Stephen Simoes and Kevin Murray each hit a two-run home run in the sixth inning and the Polar Bears (9-5) beat the Beavers (3-13) in Brunwick.

Gabe Peckler also homered for Bowdoin. Simoes had two hits, drove in two and scored twice, while Murray had two hits and drove in three runs. Luke Chessie also had two hits and scored twice.

Hunter LaBossier had a double and single for UMaine-Farmington.

COLBY 7, PLYMOUTH STATE 4: Drew Miller was 3 for 3 with RBI, including a two-run single in the bottom of the fourth, as the Mules (12-5) beat the Panthers (5-9) in Waterville.

Clint Flippo, Cole Palmeri and Charlie Furlong each had two hits for Colby. Palmeri hit a solo home run in the fifth inning.

NORTHERN ESSEX CC 10, SOUTHERN MAINE CC 7: Cooper Smith had two hits, two RBI and two runs as the Knights (13-5) beat the SeaWolves (6-10) in South Portland.

Justin Colon had two hits with four RBI for SMCC. Colon hit a two-run triple in the second and drove in two more on a single in the eighth.

UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND 23, WENTWORTH 2: Kimmy Stanair had three goals to lead and the Nor’easters (8-3, 2-1 CCC) cruised to a win over the Leopards (0-7, 0-3) in Boston.

Emily Jacobs, Meagan Donovan, Lexi Delisle and Sydney Balotin each scored twice for UNE, which jumped out to an 11-1 lead in the first quarter. Halle Huizenga had a goal and three assists, while Balotin added four assists.

MEN’S LACROSSE 

WENTWORTH 13, UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND 5: Logan Maklan scored four goals as the Leopards (5-6, 2-1 CCC) beat the Nor’easters (7-5, 1-2) in Boston.

Liam Carroll, Drew Bouley and Tyler Longo each added two goals for Wentworth.

Gavin Tanis, Colin Watt, Caleb Bowles, Joe O’Keefe and Collin Jackson scored for UNE.

RIVIER 13, ST. JOSEPH’S 8: Jeffery Potter had five goals and five assists as the Raiders (8-2, 4-1 GNAC) beat the Monks (5-7, 3-2) in Nashua, New Hampshire.

Tim Goodfellow, Tiger Hopkins and Xavier Michaud each had two goals for St. Joseph’s.

SOFTBALL

THOMAS SWEEPS SOUTHERN MAINE CC: Makayla Panich had three RBI, while Kayla Duhaime had a home run and a triple as the Terriers (8-8) beat the Seawolves (1-11) 15-0 in the first game of a doubleheader in Waterville.

Jordan Devine had three hits and three RBI as Thomas won the second game, 11-0.

COLBY SWEEPS SOUTHERN MAINE: Courtney Schumacher and Logan Luebbe each homered as the Mules (12-6) beat the Huskies (6-10) 8-0 to finish a doubleheader sweep in Waterville.

Luebbe had two hits, an RBI and scored a run as Colby won the the first game, 2-0.

HUSSON SWEEPS ST. JOSEPH’S: Morgan Curtis scored in the top of the ninth as the Eagles (10-10) beat the Monks (10-10), 5-4, in a doubleheader sweep in Standish.

Bulla McCabe had an RBI double as Husson won the first game, 1-0.
