SKOWHEGAN — University of Maine Cooperative Extension plans to host a workshop on raising swine from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 26.

The gathering will be held at the Somerset County Extension office, 7 County Drive.

Colt Knight, associate Extension professor and state livestock specialist, will present Swine 101, a two-hour primer on raising pastured pork.

Topics include breed selection, basic reproductive information, swine nutrition, fencing, housing and meat yield, according to a news release from Emily Collins at the Skowhegan office.

The sliding scale fee, $0-$10, includes a smoked pork lunch. To register, visit extension.umaine.edu.
