James “Bo” White Peary

ORANGE CITY, Fla. – James “Bo” White Peary of Orange City, Fla. passed away peacefully on April 20, 2023, surrounded by his husband and family following a brief illness.

Bo was born in Gardiner on June 14, 1965, the son of Trudy Hinckley and Grover Crawford, and later adopted by Robert E. Peary, III. Bo was the great grandson of Admiral Robert E. Peary.

Bo grew up in Central Maine and attended Maine State Academy of Cosmetology. He opened his first hair salon in Gardiner, Expressions Hair Salon, before he moved to Florida and opened BoCo Salon, which he owned and operated until his passing. His clients all had a special place in his heart, and he loved them all.

Bo and Victor shared many memories during their 30 years together. Bo also enjoyed barbecues with friends, cooking big breakfasts, traveling, camping, watching the sun rise and set and he had a great love for animals. He enjoyed many meals at Emmy’s in Deland, Fla., and while visiting Maine, he never missed a trip to The Red Barn. His glass was always half full and he was always there to give a helping hand to anyone who needed it. He was founder and president of Making Change 4 Drowning and also a member of Pink by Design/Breast Cancer Awareness/Advent Health.

Bo is survived by his husband, Victor Hoover; his mother, Trudy Hinckley, father, Grover Crawford, adopted father, Robert E. Peary, III; his sister, Dottie McCollor and her husband Todd of Farmingdale, Rhonda Labbe and her husband Timmy of Windsor; his nieces, Ashley McCollor of Farmingdale and Carol Labbe of Windsor; his uncle Raymond Hinckley and wife Donna of Manchester, their children, Raymond Hinckley and wife Lisa of West Gardiner and Kimberly Keezer and husband Gary of Vassalboro.

Per Bo’s request, there will be no service.
