LEWISTON — Oak Hill/Lisbon/Monmouth/St. Dom’s spread the ball around against Edward Little.

Seven different players scored in the Raiders’ 14-2 victory over the Red Eddies at Lewiston High School’s Don Roux Field on Thursday.

Adam Hinkley and Lukas Bergeron had a hat trick, while Matt Fecteau and Aiden Belanger each had a pair.

“We all knew this was going to be a fun game and we were going to ball out,” Adam Hinkley said. “We were super excited, we came out with energy, and we kept that energy the whole game.”

The Raiders were coming off an 11-4 defeat to Waynflete on Tuesday.

“It was well-needed to come back with a win, start fresh again and keep going,” Oak Hill coach Joe Hinkley said. “Hopefully, we can continue it on Monday.”

First-year Edward Little coach Tyler Haskell said the Raiders are a well-oiled machine.

“You can tell their players have been playing a long time and have been playing in the same systems,” Haskell said. “Starting fresh with a new coaching staff and everything, we are going to have those growing pains, but game experiences like this and tasting defeat is only going to make us better in the long run.”

Bergeron scored early in the first quarter, giving the Raiders (5-1) a 1-0 lead.

Liam Holland and Fecteau scored 43 seconds apart for a 3-0 lead halfway through the opening period.

Jack Thompson, from a distance, beat Raiders goalie Nic Michaud to cut the deficit to 3-1.

“When Jack scored that first goal, it was that spark,” Haskell said. “But the boys played hard all four quarters — they didn’t give up. That’s the new brand of Edward Little lacrosse. Last year, it was a 19-2 loss and this year, it was 14-2, so we are progressing and making our team better. We have Jonah Guay in the midfield really being a top player and a leader. Austin Sellinger as well — he’s a senior leader. They are holding it down. In the faceoff circle, Andrew Clements is a ground ball machine.”

Fecteau added his second goal by beating Edward Little (1-2) goalie Cam Dufour for a 4-1 lead. Adam Hinkley capped the opening 12 minutes with his first of the evening, and Oak Hill took a 5-1 lead.

Edward Little stopped Oak Hill’s momentum for roughly the first five minutes of the second quarter. However, Bergeron found Adam Hinkley for a 6-1 Raiders advantage.

Adam Hinkley likes drawing defensemen to him.

“My guy was face-guarding me behind the net, and I was letting my teammates work out in front. I was taking one defender out of the play, opening up the field a little more. My guys did well and put them in the net,” Adam Hinkley said.

Belanger then found his rhythm just past the five-minute mark and he scored again later in the quarter to give Oak Hill an 8-1 lead heading into halftime.

Joe Hinkley said it was important for the likes of Belanger, Fecteau and Holland to find the back of the net in the first half.

“It’s nice to get those kids some goals and a little bit more confidence in themselves to be able to keep going throughout the season,” Joe Hinkley said. “It’s nice to get everybody involved.”

Just 20 seconds into the third quarter, Alex Hinkley’s shot from 15 yards out found the back of the net, giving Oak Hill a 9-1 advantage. Clements responded for the Red Eddies’ second goal.

Adam Hinkley completed the hat trick a little over two minutes into the third quarter to extend the Raiders’ lead to 10-2, while Gage Spier also scored in the quarter for Oak Hill for an 11-2 lead.

Bergeron and Delano scored 10 seconds apart early in the fourth quarter. Bergeron scored again for a 14-2 lead.

“We are going to consistently get good games from those guys,” Joe Hinkley said of Bergeron and Adam Hinkley. “They are just hard workers, and they aren’t going to give up.”
