Raymond Edward Wolfe

SKOWHEGAN – Raymond Edward Wolfe, 82, passed away Sunday, April 23, 2023, at Woodlawn Nursing Home, Skowhegan, with his daughter by his side. He was born July 6, 1940, in New York, N.Y., the son of James Joseph and Ann Elizabeth (Marks) Wolfe.

After graduating from Carle Place High School, N.Y. in 1958 Raymond joined the United States Coast Guard where he proudly served as a radioman. Raymond joined the Suffolk County Police Department on Long Island N.Y. in 1962 and earned the rank of sergeant. Shortly after retiring, Raymond and his wife Frances moved to Maine.

Raymond adored his family and enjoyed having everyone around whether it was a special occasion or an impromptu visit. The coffee pot was always on and the cribbage board ready for the next unsuspecting, or suspecting visitor. He believed in having the right tool for the right job and that anything worth doing was worth doing well. Raymond enjoyed gardening, canning, making bread and was a history enthusiast.

Raymond was predeceased by his parents; wife, Frances Wolfe; daughter, Alice Kelley; and brother, James Wolfe.

Raymond is survived by daughters Stephanie Crohan and husband Edward of Jamesport, N.Y., Suzanne Wolfe of Riverhead, N.Y., Rae Ann Quirion and husband Gary Sr. of Skowhegan and Morgan Wolfe of Skowhegan; grandchildren Tyler and Matthew Crohan, Elizabeth Parker and husband Bradley, Derek Quirion, Gary Quirion Jr., and wife Ashley; great-granddaughters Sophia Parker, and Isabella and Autumn Quirion; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

At Raymond’s request, there will be no service.

In lieu of flowers,

the family requests donations be made to a local Hospice organization.
