Robert A. Brayley Jr.

WEST GARDINER – Robert A. Brayley, Jr., 74, of West Gardiner, died Thursday, April 27, 2023, at home with his family by his side.

He was born in Gardiner on July 10, 1948, the son of the late Robert A. Brayley, Sr. and Maxine (Wilbur) Brayley.

Bob was in the Army and became an E-5 and a Vietnam Vet. He worked in shoe shops in the Lewiston and Gardiner areas for around 20 years. Bob also loved to fish. He was known to strangers as “Bob the fishman”. He was the one who always caught the big ones and was a bridge fishing legend.

Bob loved all Boston sports and rarely missed a game. He loved animals and growing a veggie garden. He was also awesome at horseshoes, basketball, baseball, and bowling. Bob made the most of everyday. He loved to live, and he lived to love. Bob was a wonderful husband and father. “Gone Fishing”

Robert was predeceased by two brothers, David and Donald Kimball, and a sister, Linda Berry.

Robert is survived by his wife of 42 years, Patricia (Hall) Brayley of West Gardiner; son, Shane Brayley of West Gardiner, son, Robert Brayley of Readfield, daughter, Jennifer Knowles of Monmouth, daughter, Sherry Laliberte of Monmouth; six grandchildren; five sisters; and lots of nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at Cherry Hill Cemetery in West Gardiner, on Saturday, May 13, at 11 a.m.
