AUGUSTA – Lucille Arlene (Webster) Fellows passed away at her home with her family by her side, on May 4, 2023, after a long illness.

She was born on Sept. 27, 1939 to Dwight and Arlene (Bowden) Webster of Penobscot, Maine. She and her sister Corinne grew up in Penobscot in a home built by their father, surrounded by family from both sides. In her early years, she attended a one room school house in Penobscot before changing to Castine High School where she graduated in the class of ’57 (loved Statler Brothers!). She played basketball in school, which lead to a life-long love of all manner of sports.

She spent her early working years at the historic Jed Prouty Tavern and Inn in Bucksport, where she met her future husband, William “Bill” Albert Fellows of Bangor, youngest son of Maine Congressman Frank Fellows. Several years into their marriage, they settled in Augusta where Bill continued his career at the state of Maine and they raised three children. She later provided childcare to a number of lucky children in the Augusta area including her first grandson. They enjoyed a nice life in Augusta.

She was very creative and in her younger days enjoyed taking classes in crafts, furniture refinishing, cake decorating, breadmaking, painting, and more. She was known amongst her family for her sewing, knitting, crocheting and cross-stitch skills. She made beautiful cross-stitch Christmas stockings and hand-made decorations. She made dolls and elaborate stuffed animals as gifts, which her family cherishes. She loved reading, listening to country music, coloring, and playing board games. She was also a patient listener – enduring her husband’s genealogy habit throughout their marriage and listening to long stories of family history.

Lucille was predeceased by her parents Dwight and Arlene Webster, her husband Bill, and her sister and brother-in-law Corinne and John Sanborn.

Lucille is survived by her son Michael and his wife Lisa of Readfield; daughters Lorraine Fellows of Chantilly Va. and Laura Fellows of Pittston; two grandsons and their wives, Ryan and Kate Fellows of North Monmouth and Mitchell and Lauren Fellows of Windham. She is also survived by her niece Debra Parker of Hancock and her son Nick, niece Beth Vetter of Jefferson and her daughter Jeanne, and her nephew Greg Sanborn and his wife Karen of Deer Isle.

Lucille preferred not to have services and the burial will be at the family’s convenience.
