MONMOUTH — The Monmouth Academy softball came through with a run in the bottom of the ninth inning Saturday to claim a 6-5 victory over Valley.

Brooklyn Federico had a big game for Monmouth (9-0), smacking a triple and three singles. Shanna Parsons added a double and two singles for the Mustangs. Parsons also started the game in the circle, lasting 5 2/3 innings before being relieved by Federico, who didn’t allow any runs to close out the victory.

Madeline Hill had a triple and two singles for Valley (4-2).

 

 

LEAVITT 15, MT. BLUE 1: The Hornets exploded for 11 runs in the third inning to power to the win in Turner.

Winning pitcher Hailey Cyr blasted a home run at the plate for Leavitt (8-2), and Sam DeBlois had a double and two singles. Jordan Boulay added a double and a single.

Sadie Irish hit a double for Mt. Blue, which fell to 1-9.

 

WINTHROP 8, OAK HILL 5: The Ramblers (5-3) held off a rally  to win in Winthrop.

Winthrop (5-3) jumped out to an 8-1 lead after four innings before Oak Hill scored one run in the sixth and three more in the seventh.

Lauryn Wood pitched a complete game with eight strikeouts for the Ramblers. At the plate, she hit two singles and drove in two runs. Ella Rice doubled and singled and scored twice, and Camdyn Roy collected two RBIs. Winthrop coach Chuck Gurney said Haley Williams had an outstanding defensive game at shortstop.

Kelsey Young struck out six batters across the first four innings for Oak Hill (5-5) before Izzy Whitaker pitched the final two frames. Carlee Austin tripled and singled while driving in two runs, and Delia Custer had a double and a single.

 

BASEBALL

 

CONY 17, LINCOLN 6: The Rams scored six runs in the sixth inning and five in the seventh to break the game open  in Newcastle.

Jordan Benedict had two hits and three runs scored offensively and was also the winning pitcher, striking out seven and allowing four runs in six innings. Landon Foster added three hits for Cony (8-1).

Cody Cleaveland had a home run, a single, two runs scored and three RBIs for Lincoln Academy (1-7). The Eagles allowed 13 unearned runs in the loss.

 

MOUNTAIN VALLEY 10, CARRABEC 2: Kaden Paaso had a double and three RBIs in the Falcons (2-6) win in Anson.

Jakob Lapointe also had a double and drove home two runs for Mountain Valley (2-6). Seneca Jones and Zakai Jones each had a double and a RBI.

Jones went six innings allowed seven hits and two runs while striking out six.

Conner Peabody singled and had both RBIs for Carrabec (1-6). Logan Caldwell had a double in the losing effort.
