Kenneth Alan Hogate

CORNVILLE – Kenneth Alan Hogate passed away on May 10, 2023 at his home. He was born in Salem, N.J. on Feb. 18, 1953 to Melvin Hogate, Sr and Elizabeth (Erb) Hogate. He moved to Cornville with his family at the age of 13. He graduated from Skowhegan Area High School in 1971 and University of Maine Bangor in 1973. In 1974 he married Brenda (James) Mosher.

Ken grew up farming with his grandfather in New Jersey and continued when he moved to Maine. He was in Town Government and was the Cornville Fire Chief for over 40 years.

Ken is survived by his wife, Brenda; their children, Danny Mosher, Christeen Christensen, Heather Michaud and Husband Jason, and Eric Hogate; grandchildren, Talon Mosher and wife Tabatha, Ryan Mosher, William Dutton, and Cody Dutton; and great grandchild, Hayden Dutton. He also leaves behind siblings, Melvin Hogate, Jr and wife Jeanne, Elizabeth Winkley, and Jonathan Hogate and wife Debra.

He was predeceased by his parents; a brother Lewis Hogate, and infant sibling Jamie Hogate.

Ken will be greatly missed by his family for his generous heart, fun loving personality, and the quick- witted way he had a fun nickname for everyone he met.

The family would like to thank everyone who was a part of his care in the past few months of his health journey.

Family and Friends Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at Smart and Edwards Funeral Home. A Graveside Burial will be held for close family and friends on Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at 1 p.m. the Collins Cemetery on West Ridge Rd. in Cornville.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2023 from 2 – 4 p.m. at the Cornville Fire Station.
