John Richard Bishop

LAS VEGAS, Nev. – John Richard Bishop, AKA, Johnny Blaze, The Bishop, lastly and appropriately known simply as the Artist.

John was born June 14, 1980 and passed away April 11, 2023. At an early age, John always sought adventure and inspiration for his art and music. Hiking and travelling the US, he incorporated natural vistas, graffiti, abstract art and spiritual messages within his artistry. He easily found his people everywhere he went but he always called Maine home. A lifelong lover of hip hop, he founded the online radio station High Street Radio, to support independent artistry.

He was predeceased by his grandmothers, Clara May (Richardson) Bishop, and MaryAnn (Wright) Harding.

He is survived by his son Trapper, Richard W. Bishop, Elizabeth and Arthur Levesque, grandfathers Richard T. Bishop and Francis A. Harding Jr., brother Paul, sisters Jessica, Beth, and Elise, two brothers-in-laws, five nieces, three nephews, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and treasured friends that he called family.

Let us reach into our hearts and cherish the message of “The Artist” keep searching, keep creating, keep living and loving all that we see.

There will be a gathering on Saturday May 20, 2023, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at his mother’s house in Waterville.
