Keith Anthony Steward

MANCHESTER – Keith Anthony Steward, 64, of Manchester, passed away on May 10, 2023 after a battle with cancer. Keith was born in Manchester, the son of Ernest and Kathleen (Gove) Steward.

Keith graduated from Maranacook High School and began his work career. For several years he was employed by Allen Transfer and Storage and other local firms before deciding to pursue a career as a self-employed carpenter and general contractor. He was notorious for the pains-taking perfection of his carpentry craftsmanship. He might take a little longer on an assignment but you could be assured that the job was done right and met Keith’s high standards.

Keith loved nature and had acquired considerable knowledge of local animals and plants. He greatly enjoyed his time at the camp he had built with his father in the woods of Haynesville. Whenever we had questions about local birds or mammals we could check in with “Keithapedia” for the answers. In recent years he had tried his hand at gardening and became skilled vegetable gardener. He was a beloved brother, uncle, father and grandfather. Family and friends enjoyed his sense of humor and his thoughtful, kind, generous approach to life.

When his aging parents decided to sell their home and downsize, Keith converted his basement into a comfortable efficiency apartment so that his parents could have a safe home for their final years. Keith continued to care for his parents until their passing.

Keith was predeceased by his parents; his brother-in-law, Ronnie Bechard; and his nephew, Kevin Johnson.

He is survived by his daughter, Tiffany Steward; and his grandsons Lucas and Spencer of Florida; his siblings, sisters Jeannie Johnson and her husband Frank of Augusta, Linda Bechard and her partner John Collins of Readfield, Margaret Steward and her spouse Kelli Fox of Portland, brothers Bill Steward and his wife Sue of Manchester, and Jim Steward and his partner Sandra Drake of Sidney. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

At Keith’s request there will be no formal ceremony.
