Lillian Bourque

NORWICH, Conn. – Lillian Bourque, 94, of Norwich, Conn. formerly of Jackman, passed away on May 13, 2023. She died peacefully of natural causes following a bout of pneumonia at Greentree Manor Nursing Home in Waterford, Conn.

She was born in Everett, Mass., a daughter of Henry and Louise Bourque. She was educated in local schools. Lillian was a spiritual person and an avid reader including psychology.

She worked various jobs in clothing and electronic assembly in Massachusetts, and later spent many years working as a Certified Nursing Assistant at the Jackman Health Center. She cared for her husband who was being treated for bone cancer until his passing in 1998. Following the loss of her husband, she travelled with her sons to many places including Nova Scotia, South Korea, California, Pennsylvania, and Arizona. Her son, Roy, brought her to many local places in Connecticut and Maine including historic towns, steam locomotive tourist sites, museums, and florist gardens.

She was a communicant and choir member of Saint Anthony’s Catholic Church in Jackman, and later a communicant of the St. Faustina Catholic Church in Jackman where she assisted in counting and depositing the church offertory for many years. While living in Norwich, Conn., she attended the National Spiritualist Church of Norwich with her son, Roy.

She was an expert in crocheting and needlework, much of her work being donated to friends and family.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Jean “Bernie” Bourque; and her sister, Annette Champagne of Jackman.

She is survived by her sister, Dorothy Callahan of Everette, Mass.; and by her two sons, Daniel Bourque and his wife Deborah of Nashua, N.H. and Roy Bourque and his wife Linda of Norwich, Conn. She has two grandchildren by her eldest son, Daniel, Brian Bourque now living in Mililani (Oahu), Hawaii and Bruce Bourque of Manchester, N.H. She has three great-grandchildren, Mia, Arya, and Isabella.

A funeral mass will be held at St. Faustina Church, 366 Main St., Jackman on June 3, at 11 a.m. followed by a burial in St. Anthony’s Cemetery. A gathering will be announced at the burial.
