SKOWHEGAN — Natalie Gilman belted a two-out RBI single in the bottom of the sixth inning to lift Skowhegan to a 1-0 win over Brunswick in softball action Friday.
Lillian Noyes earned the win in the circle, allowing two hits while striking out seven and walking one for the River Hawks (14-1).
Ellie Sullivan took the loss for the Dragons (8-6).
TELSTAR 7, MADISON 5: A seven-run second inning was enough for the Rebels earned the upset in Bethel.
Madison (9-7) plated four runs in the top of the second, then Telstar answered with seven in the bottom half of the frame. The Bulldogs added one more run in the fourth, but Telstar pitcher Maylyn Hastings held them scoreless for the final three innings.
Hastings limited Madison to five hits in a complete-game effort. She finished with three strikeouts and eight walks.
Vivenne Charette drove in three runs for the Rebels (5-8), who tallied eight hits. Payton Berry led the way with two of those hits. She, Morgan Zetts and Taehyah Lego each scored a run and drove in a run.
Hope Nadeau doubled and had two of Madison’s five hits. She also had two RBIs.
LISBON 6, WINTHROP 1: Amelia Harvey’s strong pitching helped the Greyhounds won in Lisbon.
Harvey held Winthrop to two hits in seven innings. Ava Kottman came up big at the plate for Lisbon (4-10), belting a double and two singles, while Aubrianna Bright added a double. Brooke Norman drove in two runs, and Kottman, Harvey and Maria Levesque each knocked in one.
Julia Letourneau hit a double for one of Winthrop’s two hits. Ramblers (7-8) pitcher Lauryn Wood allowed five hits.
LINCOLN 9, ERSKINE 4: Natalie Kaler went 4 for 5 with a pair of doubles and drove in two runs to lead the offense for Lincoln in South China.
Gretchen Farrin had three hits and a pair of RBI for Lincoln Academy (4-11), while Layla Musial chipped in with a pair of hits.
Nicole Hammond grabbed the win, allowing four runs on six hits, striking out 12 and walking a pair.
Erskine fell to 1-14.
MARANACOOK 5, LEAVITT 1: Alexis and Alissa Michaud paced the Black Bears to a win in Readfield.
Alexis Michaud pitched all seven innings and held Leavitt to three hits. Alissa Michaud, the catcher, finished with a game-high three hits, including a double. Shylah Woodford also doubled for Maranacook (13-2).
Sam Deblois homered in the seventh inning for the Hornets’ (10-5) only run. She also had a double.
MOUNTAIN VALLEY 8, MT. ABRAM 7: The Falcons plated two runs in the seventh inning to win a back-and-forth game n Salem Township.
Each team overcame two deficits throughout the game, including Mt. Abram eclipsing Mountain Valley’s 6-4 lead with a three-run bottom of the fifth. That 7-6 lead held up until the Falcons’ decisive two-run top of the seventh.
The Falcons (4-11) were limited to three hits, two by Brooke Bennett, but took advantage of six Roadrunners errors. Mountain Valley, meanwhile, backed up pitcher Maisy Chase with an errorless defensive effort. Chase went all seven innings to earn the win.
Adrianna Stinchfield pitched the three-hitter for Mt. Abram (5-10). She also hit a double. Abi Wilcox led Mt. Abram’s offense with four hits, while Ari Dereszynski had three, including a double. Jany Pepin also doubled for the Roadrunners.
WINSLOW 11, CONY 7: Neveah Duplessie had two singles and an RBI to pace the Black Raiders to the win in Augusta.
Bella Morris added a double and a single for Winslow (6-9).
Abby Brown had a double, two singles and three RBIs for Cony (4-11).
MONMOUTH 4, OAK HILL 2: Brooklyn Federico pitched a four-hitter and received help from center fielder Grace Levesque as the Mustangs won in Monmouth.
Levesque made a running catch, then threw out a runner at second for a double play to end the game. Federico struck out five and issued one walk for her 11th pitching win of the season.
Federico, Rileigh Chase and Maddie Herr each hit two singles for Monmouth (15-1), which opened the scoring with a three-run third and added a fourth run in the fourth.
Oak Hill (9-7) scored both its runs in the fourth. Ava Rivet hit a pair of doubles, and Kelsey Young scattered nine hits in six innings.
BASEBALL
SKOWHEGAN 12, BRUNSWICK 2, 5 innings: The River Hawks scored seven runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to close out the win in Skowhegan.
Brendan Dunlap had a triple, three doubles, four RBIs and scored three runs to lead the Skowhegan (10-5) offense. Tyler Annis added a double, a single and scored three runs while Cooper Bardwell chipped in two singles with an RBI and run scored.
Trevor Gerrish had a double for Brunswick (4-10) while Henry Blood had a single.
MT. ABRAM 7, MOUNTAIN VALLEY 4: The Roadrunners plated three runs in the bottom of the first and held that advantage at the end of a win in Salem Township.
Bryce Wilcox, Tucker Plouffe and Bear Rollins each drove in runs in the opening frame. Wilcox paced the Mt. Abram (11-3) lineup with two hits, while Plouffe and Logan Dube both recorded two RBIs. Kaden Pillsbury pitched three shutout innings to start the game allowing just one hit with five strikeouts.
Mountain Valley (3-10) scored its four runs across the final four frames, but Mt. Abram added three insurance runs in the last two innings to secure the win. Seneca Jones had a pair of hits for the Falcons, and he and Zach New each notched RBIs.
LISBON 7, WINTHROP 1: Levi Tibbetts took a shutout into the sixth inning and the Greyhounds used a four-run first inning to earn the win in Lisbon.
Tibbetts allowed just two hits in 5 1/3 innings, to go along with six strikeouts and five walks for Lisbon (10-4). Jimmy Fitzsimmons came on in relief and kept the shutout going into the seventh, when Winthrop scored its lone run. Fitzsimmons gave up two hits while striking out three.
Tibbetts and Fitzsimmons had the lone hits for the Greyhounds, who took advantage of 11 walks and six errors from the Ramblers (9-6). Aiden Parker, Jack Ramich and Cody Osmond each walked twice and Jacoby Tuplin drove in two runs without recording a hit.
Braden Stubbert had three of Winthrop’s four hits. Carter Collin had the other hit and drove in the Ramblers’ run.
LEAVITT 6, MARANACOOK 0: Noah Carpenter shut down the Black Bears , pitching the Hornets to a victory in Readfield.
Carpenter struck out 16 batters and allowed only three hits to earn a complete-game shutout for Leavitt (8-7).
Colten Taylor had two singles and drove in a two runs to lead Leavitt’s offense.
Caldre Glowa tallied two of Maranacook’s (4-11) three hits.
BANGOR 5, MT. BLUE 2: The Rams rallied with a five-run fifth inning to win a key late-season KVAC game in Bangor.
Mt. Blue (7-8) scored one run in the top of the first and another in the top of the third to take an early 2-0 lead. Jayden Meader collected three hits for the Cougars, and Zak Koban recorded the lone RBI while also picking up one of Mt. Blue’s seven hits. Koban took the loss on the mound, allowing all five runs (four earned) and six hits in five innings while striking out six. Hayden Dippner pitched a hitless sixth.
Wyatt Stevens earned the win for Bangor (8-7), regrouping from those early runs to finish with a complete game. He struck out four and walked three batters. No. 9 hitter Gavin Glanville-True had two hits and a run for the Rams, and Jack Schuck hit a double and drove in two runs.
LAWRENCE 6, NOKOMIS 3: The Bulldogs used a five-run third inning to cruise to the win in Fairfield.
Garret Murphy had three singles for Lawrence (11-4) while Hunter Lee added a double.
Nokomis fell to 7-8).
