Paul W. Cottrell Sr.

WINTHROP – Paul W. Cottrell Sr., 93, passed away peacefully surrounded by family, on June 6, 2023, after a brief illness.

He was born in Troy, N.Y., on March 16, 1930, the son of Evelyn and Raymond Cottrell. Paul lived on the family farm in Hoosick Falls, N.Y. and after graduating high school he joined the U.S. Army. Upon his return from the service, he attended classes at Sienna College. He began working for Albany Felt Company and was later transferred to their plant in Monmouth.

Paul and Marion made Winthrop their home for the past 65 years. Paul was active in the Winthrop community serving in the Winthrop Lions Club, recently receiving his 55-year pin, the Catholic Church Men’s Club, and devoted many years as a trustee of the Charles M. Bailey

Public Library.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Marion Cottrell; his son, Paul and wife JoEllen of Winthrop, daughter, Lori Gray and husband Bernard of Monmouth, daughter, Terri Camick and husband Michael of

Winthrop and daughter, Alison Seguin and husband Jeff of Lewiston. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Christopher and Alex Cottrell, Erik and Ryan “Tessie” Gray, Tyler and Carson Camick and

Kali Camick Vorpagel; and five great-grandchildren, Ilanna, Miles and Grady Gray and Tillie and Griffin Vorpagel.

At Paul’s request there will be no services.

Paul requested that in his memory you do something nice for someone,

and in lieu of flowers, the family requests donations

be made to the

Charles M. Bailey Public Library in Winthrop.
