PORTLAND – Ronald E. Foss, 72, of Portland, died peacefully from the illness of Rapidly Progressing A.L.S. at home, surrounded by family and friends, in the early morning of June 7, 2023.
He was predeceased by his parents, Robert, and Mildred (Essency) Foss of Pittston; and siblings Linda (Foss) Goodman of Idaho, and William Foss of Pittston.
He graduated from Gardiner High School in 1969 where he played varsity football. He was employed for 38 years at ROC-Tenn Paper Products Company at Scarborough, from which he retired in 2017. He was an avid golfer and loved motorcycle adventures with his friends and his brother, Bob. He was actively involved in the Recovery Community where he enjoyed many long friendships and helped many people. He recently celebrated 43 years of continuous involvement.
He is survived by his children, Crystal Foss of Belfast, and Benjamin Foss of Aztec, N.M.; as well as his siblings Robert E. Foss and wife. Gail (McInnis) Foss of Winterport, and Valerie (Foss) Hopkins and her husband, Robert of Buckeye, Ariz.; as well as several grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews; and his long-time special friend, Brenda Davis.
